A Tribute to Queen at Red Rocks
There’s no party like a Red Rocks party – at least that’s what they tell us to say every time we have a once in a lifetime show here at the Rocks between the monoliths and blistering music we have blaring over the speakers. BUT THIS TIME WE NEED NO CONVINCING – ‘cause it’s a real life murder on the dancefloor type of night, a Radio Ga Ga sort of live performance, a night with the Killer Queen crew!
They’ve been touring since LAST YEAR in what feels like a non-stop replay of Champion theme songs and Freddy tributes they can hear all the way on Mercury. They already came here to Red Rocks last July – had three sold out dates in Norway and two sold out shows in Sweden, The State Theatre in Pennsylvania, Sony Hall in New York City, Indianapolis, and now – they’re running it back with two hours just us and the music.
Killer Queen is the ultimate tribute band as far as generational legacies and namesakes go. Named after Queen’s 1974 hit song with the same name, the band formed in the early 1990s by Patrick Myers (A.K.A. the new age Freddie Mercury) with their only mission to keep the energy of the band alive – and to give the ever growing Queen fanbase a chance to still hear some of Freddie’s classics live, with looks and moves like the OG’s too. And from the live shows we’ve seen (like the one we linked below) – many fans who never got the chance to see Queen live are stunned and shocked by how they both sound the same, and feel that they’ve kept the energy and ethos of the band going for decades since Freddy’s death. They are the most searched for Queen tribute band in the world – and we’re so excited to welcome them here once again to take their spot on our Mt.Rushmore stage of best bands to ever touch the Rocks.
Queen formed in London in 1970 by Freddie Mercury, Brian May, John Deacon, and Roger Taylor. Starting with heavy rock and metal, the band grew to be one of the largest Pop Rock bands in the world – even to this day, fifty years on. Their major hit songs – Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You, Another One Bites The Dust, and many others – are still played regularly on pop and rock radios to this day. The band found international success in their primetime, and some of their albums have good Multi-Platinum, Diamond, and won many awards from the 20th century to the present day.
