American rapper, singer, and former star college baseball player mike. is on his way to the sandstone monoliths of Red Rocks Amphitheatre. For two nights in November, he will be performing on the iconic stage of the venue to deliver his best frat rap music to a live audience. The rapper, who did not anticipate the large audience of his humble, self-released music, has shared how he felt about the wholesome experience, saying, “People really don’t understand how much of a long shot this whole thing is. I didn’t have plans for this. The fact that I’m on a tour bus and we’re going from city to city and people are lining up to come listen to watch us play… It’s surprising.”
Formerly known as Mike Stud, mike.’s real name is Michael Francis Seander, and he rose to prominence as a hip hop music artist and baseball player from Rhode Island. What started as an inside joke among him and his teammates led him to create College Humor in 2010, when he turned to music after an injury and a surgery. Since then, he had his debut album, Relief, top the iTunes Hip-Hop chart in 2013 and released eight more studio albums plus six more mixtapes. As a white rapper, mike. also received criticisms, but the artist takes it as an opportunity, sharing how he sees it as “a motivational thing, to keep making dope records in order for me to earn their respect. If it takes a year, two years, or however many albums, it’s just cool to see the fan base growing, to show people that there’s really something going.” He also shares that other artists inspire him, naming each of them in an interview. The rapper describes himself as “a big J Cole fan, Big Sean, Drake, Kendrick. I love all the new guys because that’s what I listen to now, and they’ve influenced the way I write music because I’m fans of them.”
